About us
Motlys is a fully independent production company that has produced a number of quality films since it was established in 1983. We’re committed to presenting meaningful and great stories that connect with audiences’ lives and fantasy - told by distinctive filmmakers that entertain and engage as well as they enrich. Our slate includes many award-winning and critically acclaims films and drama series such as Home Ground, Thelma, Welcome to Norway, Louder Than Bombs, Blind, I Belong, Oslo, August 31st, North, The Man Who Loved Yngve and a whole lot more. Among of our most recent releases are Beware of Children (winner of the Nordic Council Film Prize 2020), which premiered at the prestigious Venice International Film Festival and Hope which was selected as Norway’s official entry for Best International Feature Film category for the 93rd Academy Awards.
We produce feature films, drama series and documentaries.
Our films have competed at some of the most renowned film festivals in the world including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, IDFA, Tribeca (to name a few) and brought home several prestigious awards in addition to our national and Nordic accolades such as the Nordic Council Film Price, Gullbaggar, Dragon Award and a number of Amanda, Critic’s and Kanon Awards.
